Honey-Garlic Chicken Wings

This Honey-Garlic Chicken Wings recipe is perfect for a picnic at the park or beach as it tastes great at room temperature, but it’s even better fresh out of the oven. Because of this, I love to serve it on a Friday night when you just want to sit back and enjoy a movie night at home with family. This recipe is fairly simple and a treat to eat.

A platter of Honey-Garlic Chicken Wings

I still can’t believe its time! The sun’s shining, birds chirping, flowers blooming and the trees are all green again. Need I say it, Summer is here… finally! It brings with it joyful times – of enjoying an early dinner in the backyard, of walks at the beach, camping trips, biking, road trips and yes, of course, picnic baskets with a box of Honey-Garlic Chicken Wings!

Picnics have always been a favourite summer thing for me. Something about packing a lunch, a blanket and a good book, and heading out to a lovely park brings a big smile on my face. We spend most of our summer idling away at a park with friends and family over good food and conversation. Opening up a basket of goodies for everyone to share brings about love and a feeling of togetherness.

Most often than not, when a large group of friends come together for a picnic, we often decide on a rough menu just so no two people would end up bringing the same dish – which hardly ever happens of course! When given an option, I always like to volunteer to bring an appetizer. It is the perfect chance to get creative and think out of the box. Bite-sized finger foods are usually my preferred way to enjoy a meal and I love experimenting with different flavours and textures.

I’ve been dying to test out different picnic-friendly recipes and this time I decided to whip up some Honey-Garlic Chicken Wings. They are always a favourite with my family and friends and are a perfect treat to eat outdoors with a large group.

HONEY-GARLIC CHICKEN WINGS

Ingredients

  • 24 chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp light cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped scallion, for garnish

Instructions

  • Marinade the chicken wings with all the ingredients, except scallions, for about an hour. 
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. When the oven is ready, bake the chicken wings for 20-25 minutes till done, turning them over once in between. 
  • Garnish with chopped scallions and enjoy!

    We love chicken wings, and honey garlic is a favourite, but we usually go out with friends for a wing night. I never really make them at home and now I want to!
