I finished the book a couple of weeks ago (and I loved it)... but I'm having some trouble coming up with a recipe to feature on my blog inspired by the story. I had a transcendent experience with Gobi 65 at a restaurant and I've got a recipe for a chicken version I've been dying to try... but to go 'pure Indian' (or pure ANY one singular cuisine) doesn't feel like it captures the spirit of the story. Help me find inspiration?

Go with your instinct Dolores. I found myself relating to how the protagonist cooks food depending on her moods - I almost always do the same! And never worry about going pure "anything" with cooking, I truly feel it's the unexpected that makes the dish all the more fabulous. Good luck and see you at the round-up!

I just got a comment through which I came to know of this event. You know what, I thought of the same thing yesterday. An event of cooking with a book as a theme. Aapne mere dil ki baat kaise jaani? Great! Can I host one whenever available, pleeeease? I think I will wait for the next month's event - I loved the way Khaled Hosseini talks of food in his books...yum yum:) Kudos to you, dearie.

Happy to hear to like the idea of the event Harini, books and food are my absolute passion - so what better way to celebrate them both! Hope to see you at the round-up soon.

I sent you an email as I was so excited to join! But I am a little confused. Do I send you a review of the book at the end of the month?

Hi Amanda, Sorry to have missed your email. No, all you need to do is cook a dish inspired by the book, its story or the characters - no need of a book review! Hope to see you at the round-up!

Meena: This is a wonderful club to belong to - I have obtained all three books for May - July. Am currently at the part in "Serving Crazy for Curry" where the sister, Shoba, is thinking of having an affair with the Ukranian chap. Devi, meanwhile, has cooked her Cajun Prawn Biriyani - this could be my recipe, I am not sure. So far I find the characters a bit depressing as they are so unhappy; I am hoping that the cooking becomes a healing agent in the story, but am not going to read ahead.

I'm sorry you don't seem to be enjoying the book Heather, I personally think it's quite a good read. Thanks for your support and hope to see you in the roundup!

Just ordered it. Love the idea. are we supposed to blog about the book and what we tried from it?

Hi FF, yes, you'd have to blog about the recipe you're inpried to create from the book. Once you're done, simply email me with the linmk and I'll add it to the round-up. Will be looking forward to your entry!

Hi, This is a great idea. I love reading books. I got this book from the library. I got to be honest with you, this is the first english book I have read which was written by an Indian author. I liked it. The family dynamics of an NRI/ABC family was very well written.I'm definetly inspired now :))

Join the club NG, I hope to see you at the recipe round-up!
